If the battery is charged, disconnect the TCS2 from anything you have connected it to and turn it off. Leave it disconnected and turn it back on. If that doesn't work, hold the Power button down for 5 seconds and a count-down timer will appear. Keep holding the power button down and the TSC2 will do a soft reset. If that doesn't work, my best advice is to take the TSC2 to the nearest Trimb...

It's is rather ironic this post appears on the eve of Facebook going public and offering an IPO at $38 a share. RPLS was one of the first real social networks.

RPLS.com, the original social network for surveyors. Spanning the Globe covering the lives of surveyors everywhere. The thrill of discovery and the agony of de feet. It makes you wonder what might have been.

I have a project that needs brass or aluminum caps with stamped or engraved infomation on them with the information stamped or engraved BEFORE the actual setting of the monument. The monuments will be set in concrete. I need approximately 30 monuments. Do any of you, my fellow surveyors, know of a reasonable producer of such items?

    3. Unhooked and tried to connect via serial cable and now no connection!

I would simply state at the beginning of the description that the azimuth are based on a North azimuth, and NOT preface each call with an "N".
Thanks for the clarification Don.  I am contemplating whether to carry the "north" term before each degree/minute/second call on the metes and bounds description I am drafting.  It seems redundant but I suppose it's within the realm of possibility for someone to consider the azimuths oriented south rather than north.

To differentiate them from south azimuths..  The Army Corps of Engineers used to use south azimuths.

I'm going to have a to brag a little here.

Back about 10 years ago, we wrote some software for the PVAs called Assessors Resource Management (ARM).   This software did a few different things, but the only thing I ever used it for was to look up deed refences to parcels.   Each county was responsible for their own software and roughly 20 or so counties used ours.

    Well, due to personel...

This is probably a surveying 101 question, but since I don't normally work with Azimuths, I was looking for some clarification on the following:  I have a survey plan that identifies boundary lines by Azimuth bearings rather than using quadrants.  The parcel is rectangular and the azimuths run in a clockwise direction around the rectangle.  My specific quest...

Oh, I agree with you and I am not trying to disregard the rules, I am just thinking that if the counties publish a set of rules to follow, there should be someone who is employed to enforce the rules as well as answer questions.

As a Professional Land Surveyor, whose name will appear on the plat, you must be sure to be in compliance with ALL regulatory requirements.  Just stop and consider what your exposure will be if you disregard the local regulations.

What if you create a titile defect?

Yes, that did answer most of my questions, expecially that you can choose the module you want to work in.

My issue with Carlson Civil/Survey   is that I only have AutoCad LT so I would have to UG to full AutoCad or use the Intellicad version.   I ' m comfortable with Intellicad but then there ' s the sticky wicket of the GIS portion being an ESRI product.   Shelling out an additiona...

Currently I used two systems, depending on who I'm doing the work for. At my emploer, I use AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011. The easiest, cleanest file to import from TDS Survey Pro is the .txt.

On the side with a RLS buddy of mine, I used Carlson Survey 2010 at the office and Carlson Surv CE in the field. I bring in a .crd file for points and a .dxf file for any field-to-finsh line work.
