RIP Tom Bosley

Posted by MLB on Oct 19, 2010 1:53 pm

Celebrity website TMZ.com and Access Hollywood are reporting that actor Tom Bosley has died at 83.

Bosley famously starred on the television series "Happy Days."

TMZ reports that family members said Bosley had been battling a staph infection.

"I saw him before I ever got to Hollywood on Broadway, and he was great," former "Happy Days" co-star Henry Winkler told TMZ. "And then I got to act with him for 10 years and he was great. Tom Bosley was our mentor. He was a true artist."

Tough week on Boomers. Mrs. Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley) passed last week.

Aside from his well known TV work, Bosley was known around here for playing the title role in the hit musical about the NYC Mayor, "Fiorello!", as well as Maurice, Belle's father in Disney's first Broadway outing, "Beauty and the Beast". He moved to the Los Angeles production in 1994.

He follows the original "Mr. Cunningham" (from the "Love, American Style" episode that spun off the series), Harold Gould, by a few weeks.
