"Mister Dillion" has joined most of the rest of the Gunsmoke cast.

He will be missed.

I'll never forget when I was a kid and we were watching "The Thing", my dad pointed to the alien and told me "that's Marshall Dillon".
In the days before slo-mo and Tivo, it took many repeated watchings before I believed him, although in retrospect, who else could it have been?

(The old "Million Dollar Movie" on Channel 9 here in NY used to show movies eeightor nine times a week back in those days.)

Funny, this made me remember the actor who played Sam the bartender, Glenn Strange,  who played Frankenstein's monster in the last three Universal monster movies mash-ups.

Other than Burt Reynolds (only his career is dead) there aren't any others left from Dodge City, except maybe monor bit part players.

Ang- Glenn got the role of the monster because for one reason he was nearly as tall as Jim Arness. He also played the nefarious "Butch Cavendish" in the pilot episode of "The Lone Ranger".

Those were the days.
