Kudos to Mike Childs of Global Mapper

Posted by Scott Partridge on Nov 25, 2011 7:03 pm

I have worked with a very long list of developers and vendors over the years and I do not give out praise lightly.  I was experiencing a simple support problem with Global Mapper on Thursday (caused by my not reading the documentation thoroughly) and I emailed technical support, completely forgetting that it was the Thanksgiving holiday in the US.  It was a normal working day in Canada.

Mike Childs, the developer of Global Mapper (recently acquired by Blue Marble) responded to my email minutes after I sent it, and followed up with another one a short while later.  I was back in business before I realized that he was probably in holiday mode visiting with family at the time.

I didn't expect that level of service from anyone, but I wrote him today expressing my gratitude and thanks for his help.

The next time you get exemplary service from someone providing technical support to those of us in the industry, I hope that you take the time to share it with us here.

Thanks again Mike.

You're right. It's not that easy getting good customer service. I know a couple of sites where consumers lash back at companies for bad cs. On the other side, I used to work for customer service and it melts my heart (and makes me love my job more) whenever a customer says thank you for a job well done. Not a lot of people are ware that a simple thank you actually makes people working on customer service do their job better.

I have been using GM for years now and I haven't had many issues. But I have heard great things about Mike and his quick turn around on problems or just minor improvements with his program. Keep up the good work Mike.
