AUTOCAD CIVIL 2011 UNITS ISSUE

Posted by djhobbs on Jan 20, 2012 10:40 pm

Hi All,

I have a reasonable grasp  AutoCAD and often use it to draft plans, import and interrogate drawings etc. Having recently read about AutoCAD Civil 3d I decided to give the software a go, with the eventual goal of adopting the software as my preferred survey package.

This morning I did a test survey using my Leica Viva hardware. I performed the survey, including a number of control points in the network, and successfully imported the data into AutoCAD.

When the data is interrogated, using commands like _dist all measurements within the drawing space are displayed in meters, equally when the properties of a point are inspected the coordinates are in meters. However as seen in the attached image, the coordinate list displays the values in feet. When I performed a least squares analysis of the network all data is also given in feet. Does anyone out there know of a possible solution or setting?

Thanks

Daniel

First thing: Check drawing UNITS (type in UNITS at command line)
Second thing:  Check drawing settings under the Prospector Tab (right click on drawing file name for options)
Third thing:  Check Survey database units and default settings
Wrote a book before, but it would not let me post, hope this goes through and is of some help
