I just switched over from 2005 land desktop to 2009 and I have several issues that are driving me nuts!
1.) How do I get a black drawing background on my screen instead of the white one? I know it's got to be something simple in the settings somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
2.) With the 2005 software, I could use Map to import my aerial photos in a JPEG. format. When I try to do that in the 2009 it shuts me down giving me an error of "cannot open frame" file\acmapcoordinate transform.cpp, internal error! Is there a better way to bring these aerials in? I bought some disks from a company called image trader, www.landsat.com. Is there a better site to secure these aerials from?
I think if you go to the command line, right click, and select "options". When the window pops up hit the "drafting" tab. Inside there is where you can change the colors of the screens.. As for inserting pic's i'm not sure. I had 2005 land desktop and have 2009 companion right now and I have no problems inserting pic's.
I know you do need Auto cad Map to insert pic's though or at least that's what I've been led to believe, do you have that?
1) PULL DOWN TOOLS - OPTIONS - SCROLL TOP BAR TO SEE DRAFTING - CLICK ON COLORS-HIGHLIGHT INTERFACE ELEMENT-UNIFORM BACKGROUND-SET COLOR BLACK
that was easy...
2) A LOT of functions that don't work for me first try, I close the drawing, save changes, re open and try again it works.
second try I close auocadd and restart
third try I figure out a workaround - if you have an IT guy you can bug him or your vendor.
2) I ran into that problem with the 2009 software, too.
Apparently, in the 2009 release of Land Desktop, Civil 3D, and Map 3D, MAPIINSERT does not work on a 64-bit OS, or on 32-bit XP if the /3GB switch is set.
I was never able to find any workaround. When the problem hit us, I had a coworker who was still on XP x32, and I went to his computer to insert the images. By the next time I had to work with images, I was using the 2010 software, where this problem was fixed.
if you are using the 64 bit o/s AND have to do a work-a-round, I was able to load the photos using the following procedure. It's not like MAPINSERT where the images are on a layer that can be manipulated, but the images are there.
Use Map3d's Display manager or "MAPWSPACE" on the command line to load the Task Pane, if the "Task Pane" is visible, switch to "display manager"
Select data > Add data
select "raster"
Navigate to the source folder
click "connect"
check the desired image file(s)
connect.
This will load them and they are visible, but good luck trying to do anything with them.
