Carlson Point Numbers

What version of Carlson (if any) did they make so that you can use Alpha-Numeric Point "Numbers"? I am strugling with to many Point #1's when we combine files and would like to use a more modern numbering scheme.

I am unsure what older versions had it.

I have never done it, but have worked with drawings that had it in already.
