I'm really having a hard time trying to figure out what goes on here.
I have a fairly fast setup both at home and at the office (W7 at home, XP at the office).....yet I find responses to clicks and double clicks frustratingly slow.
I have seen this complaint repeated on here since the switchover.....it's not like folks are making it up....and in here many posts here, Kristi has alluded to same, citing a variety of reasons.
I'm thinking that this is a MAJOR factor in people not posting here.
This is about the fastest I've seen it. Angelo has a good point, though. Dozens of people haven't been complaining about it being slow just to be ornery. Then MLB and RADU come on and say "No, it isn't." Today, at least, the slow speed is not the biggest issue. It's the fractured nature of the board where you look at the latest posts and you can't tell what thread they're replying to and you've got to click on one, go to that thread, decide if you want to read it or reply, go back to the list...Or, go to the Forums page, look at the Strictly Surveying or whatever topic and see only the latest post, but not the sub-categories, dive into that category to see what's new, blah, blah.
I understand that the navigation layout is being worked on, just a reminder that it's a problem for lots of people.
OK, here's a constructive suggestion, although I think it's been made a few dozen times already: If the threads are not going to be displayed in some kind of order without hunting and pecking through the categories, at least make the original title of the thread stick so for example, I would know looking at the latest posts that Angelo's post was part of this thread. That's frustrating when you click on something with a different title and find out you already read it.

We are working on improved navigation tools. I really thought these would be available by now, and I'm sorry they're not, but I can tell you they're under development. And what we have won't just be a little better - it will be substantially better. I know this is frustrating - it has been for me, as well. But what we're working toward just can't all happen overnight.
As for site speed - that should have improved substantially for everyone over the past week based on some changes that were made behind the scenes.. I'm not sure why Jimmy experienced issues yesterday (and maybe also today?), and I would be curious to know whether others are still experiencing slow load times. If so, please do let me know and we'll continue to look into it.

See, it happened again. Kristi's "Site Speed and Navigation" post is actually in this thread, but you wouldn't know it. There was a suggestion during beta that posters leave the original title and add to it if you want. Not everybody got that memo.
Certain aspects seem a little faster than it was a month ago, but why does it take so long for a new page within the site to display after clicking a link?
There are occasional times when I visit the site and it seems responsive. Then there are times when I log on, make my first pick on a thread that looks like it might have some interest and I start counting... If I reach 10 and haven't seen any response, I'm out. I don't have the time it takes to "surf" this site. I need to log on, peruse the post and topic lists, and make pick quickly, easily, and productively. So far, I can't depend on this site to provide those parameters. I'll keep checking in, but still am in a holding pattern.

Just returned from a litle junket to Nevada & Arizona. These old Barry McGuire lyrics come to mind.
You may leave here for 4 days in space
But when you return, it’s the same old place
The poundin’ of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don’t leave a trace
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don’t forget to say grace
And… tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend
You don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction
Mm, no no, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.
