It is another scam - "Get Quick Rich" on backs of engineers and professionals. They have no liability whatsoever, will be charging you fees and penalties; just give them your credit card that they require. American way to charge something for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a problem with the fact that they will charge your credit card for so called referral and nothing is guaranteed - JUST their income.
So this is a scenario:
- They have 100 names on the list and will contact them in order to charge everybody $ 25.00 (at this moment). So they will get $ 2,500.00 for the job that is valued at about $ 400.00 for example. And the professionals have still 1:100 chance to get that job. WHAT A SWEET DEAL - for them of course!!!!!!!!!!
The company has worked it's way onto multiple banks home closing vendors list (one of the new bank requirements from Jan 2010). So this service helps banks fulfill their obligation of having list of home inspectors, surveyors, attorneys, etc.
The real issue are the fee's and more so the payment plan. I discussed how payments work with Homeservicenet and then discussed the legalities with the N.C. board. The N.C. advisor felt that it failed to meet board rules and in effect the surveyors would be paying for the work. So definitely make sure the payment plans work in your state, because right at the moment they don't work in N.C.
HomeServiceNet contacted me and asked me to be a part of their network. While researching the company I came across this post; I know it is kind of outdated by now, but I wanted to put my experience in here to help future people that find this thread.
I spoke with one of the HomeServiceNet representatives and drilled them on all of the points that were brought up on this thread. The rep told me that they use to collect money ONLY after a job was scheduled and completed with the vendor. They also mentioned that they do not send out the client to multiple vendors, which I got caught in that scheme from another company I wont mention. They only send the client to one vendor. If the vendor declines the job, then they move to the next vendor on the list.
I decided that with the down economy I would give them a chance. After a couple of months of being signed up (which was completely free) they sent me a job and after the job was completed they billed the customer and sent me a check in the mail (for the exact amount that was charged to the vendor). They were running some kind of promotion when I signed up so that I don't have to pay a referral fee or any of that garbage. They sent me the job, I performed the job and then they sent me the exact amount that I told them I charged for the job.
Hopefully my experience will help someone else out on clarifying a little more on what that company does and how they work.
