HOW MUCH IS THIS POLE?

Posted by rag4069 on Jul 29, 2010 1:46 pm

Our company is involved in the design of these poles to meet stress standards, wind conditions, sag of wires, terrain features, soil conditions, etc. for transmission lines. i help coordinate the survey crews to make sure these poles are staked in the right location. These poles are placed every 500-1500  +/-feet apart,  depending on various terrain conditions
.
For those of you not in the business, anyone care to guess how much, approximately, each pole with footing cost to construct. i realize there are numerous variables. This particular pole had a footing approximately 10' diameter,  35'   deep (bore) with the pole being approximately 140'  tall.
i am not an engineer- i was somewhat surprised. i will post what i was told later this afternoon.

Nope, sorry Ron, Burke was much closer... i was told that the foundation shown cost about $75k.  Right on guys. The pole was an additional 40k.
i was also told that some poles can go up to $250k plus foundation, labor, etc.

Any breakdown on that?  Seems like a hole and a hundred cu yards of concrete souldn't be $75k.
