Useing GIS

Posted by Andrew Gaiennie on Jan 9, 2011 3:21 pm

Hey GIS users, I have a question:

Is it possible to use a GIS like a filing cabinet of spatial information? To augment or replace traditional survey data fileing systems with a GIS?  I would really like to put all my future data into a system that makes them relevant to each other. My assumption is that by laying all my work together, I might create a valuable secondary product over time.

Absolutely. It is a matter of cataloging all of the digital information as groups of files with georeferenced links.
